If your perfect day includes miles of singletrack or gravel biking in the mountains of North Carolina, come check us out! We have lodging and camping from a Ride-In Ride-Out location right across the road from DuPont State Forest!

Located just 1/4 of a mile from the Fawn Lake Access Area at DuPont, we provide amazing access to some of the best riding in the East. Our connector trail from the Pond Camping area brings you out even closer… only about 200 yards from the entrance.

The first phase of lodging and camping opened up in August 2021. This included our 2 Story Log Cabin (with 1, 2, and 3 bedroom options), as well as a couple of campsites on the Hilltop.

In 2022, we opened eight more sites down by the Pond.

2023 brought in another full bathroom (with indoor shower!) off the Lodge porch, improvements to our cabin suites, we extended our trail system by adding the Pond Loop trails and by providing trail connectors from Hilltop camping down to the pond trails. Through the winter we were planning to fine tune some of the existing camp sites based on guest feedback and add a couple more down in the pond area.

2024 Threw us a curve ball. We were having a great year right up until Hurricane Helene made its way inland to catastrophically damage the entire region. That fall, we found out what living in a disaster area was actually like. We were fortunate that we did not have any buildings flooded or crushed by falling trees, but we lost an uncountable number of our old Oaks that lined the road and our driveways, in addition to all the other trees that went down on our property. We spent the rest of 2024 and most of 2025 cutting and chopping our way through it all. Our Cedar Mountain community was amazing throughout this time and it was inspirational to see friends and neighbors all pulling each other up in a time of need. Many thanks also to the friends and family who came from near and far to assist in recovery efforts both here and in the surrounding communities. We appreciate you ALL!

That brings us to 2026 (August will be our 5 year anniversary of opening the retreat!)

This year we are sitting back a little bit- taking a breath. We have temporarily changed our SRT’s over to longer term rentals. Tod is focused on riding his bike more. And I (Cathie) am expanding my vegi garden, hope to make more art, and gradually update the center island garden here on the hilltop. We also look forward to completing some of the “almost finished” projects we have, including the A-Frame Glamp Tent behind the lodge. But first and foremost, we’ll be enjoying this beautiful, fern covered mountain we call HOME.

Camping

Mountain Bikers and Hikers LOVE the easy access to DuPont State Forest. Ride out of your campsite and into the park in minutes.

Hilltop Camp Sites: These sites are easily accessed via the paved driveway so 4WD is NOT necessary to reach them. They are tucked in the woods right at the top of the driveway, so while not as private as the Pond sites guests love the accessibility and how close they are to the Lodge amenities. These sites are right next to each other so they are good for groups who want to stay close. Each site has a picnic table and firepit.

Hilltop lodge amenities include a hot water outdoor shower, hot tub, firepit area, bike wash station, and an enclosed porch where you are welcome to relax, eat, and enjoy the view. A restroom with flush toilet is accessible from the porch, and a second bathroom WITH SHOWER in now available as well.

Pond Camp Sites: In addition to the Hilltop sites, we now have more private, primitive and peaceful spots down by the pond. AWD/4WD is required for the Pond Sites as they are accessed via a steep gravel road. Port-a-johns are available April through mid-November, and outdoor showers are planned in the future (not currently available). Campers in the Pond Area are welcome to come UP the 1/4 mile to the hilltop to use the amenities located there, but should be prepared for steep terrain.

A private bike trail takes you from the Pond up to Reasonover, and the Pond Loop trails now connect almost every site into our trail system. There is a hike trail going from the Pond all the way up to the Hilltop Camping area, and bike trail following Reasonover and our driveway connecting the Hilltop and Pond Area trails. You’ll enjoy amazing views of the fern covered hillsides in the spring and summer from these trails.
